Redfish
fly fishing charters in Charlotte Harbor, Tampa Bay and
Sarasota
The
noble redfish is a brute who lives, schools and eats on
the vast saltwater plain known as the "flats."
From Terra Ceia Bay at the bottomof Tampa Bay to scenic
Sarasota Bay and the unspoiled flats of Charlotte Harbor,
this is redfish country.Often exceeding 30 inches, the redfish
of these west coast flats are never more intriguing than
when they are schooled and tailing. Few sights in angling
are as exciting as quietly moving in on a sea of redfish
tails, wagging above the surface as they grub along the
bottom in search of food. All that's needed is a couple
of deep breaths and a calming word or two from your captain
and you are prepared to make the cast. Keep a low profile
with your body and rod and you will deliver a fly quietly
and unseen. With a little luck, from the water will rise
as a big red races to your fly. In a massive swirl your
bug is gone and the sound of your pounding heart is quickly
replaced by the scream of a fly reel on fire. This is redfish
fly fishing in Florida.
